TMC249 Smart Power Micro-stepping PWM Motor Driver with sensor-less stall detection (stallGuard™) external power transistors and protection, diagnostics and SPI Interface
Description
The TMC249 is a smart high current micro-stepping driver for bipolar stepper motors. The integrated unique sensor-less stall detection stallGuard™ makes it an ideal choice for applications where a reference point is needed, but a switch cannot be used. The ability to predict an overload makes the device an optimum drive where high reliability is required.
It provides an SPI™ interface as well as the classical analogue / digital control and a full set of protection and diagnostic features making this device very rugged. It directly drives external MOSFETs for currents up to 6A which means it reaches an extremely high efficiency to allow driving of a high motor current without cooling measures even at high environment temperatures.
With the new chip-scale QFN package which is so small a 4A motor driver is produced on something the size of a stamp! The high motor current makes this device most suitable for miniaturised highly dynamic and high torque drive systems.
